Council adopts resolution creating Tax Incremental District No. 111 in 3rd District
Funds to be used for public infrastructure improvement and commercial property renovation

Today (Tuesday, December 13), the Common Council adopted file #221109 – a resolution approving a project plan, authorizing expenditures, authorizing grant agreements, and creating Tax Incremental District (TID) No. 111 (East North Avenue), in the 3rd Aldermanic District. The TID consists of 10 properties on East North Avenue between North Oakland Avenue and the Milwaukee River, and will assist in funding up to $3,800,000 in public infrastructure improvements along East North Avenue, as well as $100,000 towards commercial property renovation.

District Alderman Jonathan Brostoff looks forward to the impact these dollars will make along North Avenue. “This newly created TID will make a lasting impact in the 3rd District by making streets safer and more pedestrian friendly, and directly aligns with the city’s larger commitment to Vision Zero,” said Alderman Brostoff. “This is certainly welcome news, and I want to thank my colleagues for their support, City staff who have worked to help advance this initiative, the East Side Business Improvement District who was a key driver behind the project, and all the residents and community groups who voiced their support.”

Public infrastructure improvements funded by the TID will be conducted in two phases and include traffic calming elements added to North Avenue, bike amenities, street trees and additional landscaping, pedestrian improvements and plaza, and public art.
