“When I was a kid even then knew I was GOATed / Look me in eyes, no surprise, they know I’m focused.”
That’s Wave Chapelle on “Next,” a standout track amongst standout tracks on his latest LP, Infinity. If some of those tracks seem familiar, it’s because the tireless Milwaukee rapper has been releasing the bulk of them one by one throughout the second half of 2026. (“Next” first dropped in July.) Listening to them collected as a full album and as a focused piece of art, it’s clear that Wave’s childhood GOAT premonition wasn’t wishful thinking. The 12-track Infinity is his greatest achievement to date.
“Focus” is a theme throughout Infinity. “Moving, riding, know I got drive moving forward, I’m focused,” Wave raps on “Moving.” The aforementioned “Next” takes that focus to another level, with Wave checking things off his to-do list with clinical precision. “Getting off I’m doin my thing, what’s next? / Put on for my family and my team, what’s next? / Cashout I’m pulling up clean, what’s next? / After that I rinse and repeat, what’s next?” Elsewhere, the irresistible “Blueprint” finds Wave shrugging off the “obstacles in the way that’s going to stop all the movement” and keeping his “mind on the mission, that’s the rule.”
Wave’s hustle gets turned inward on one of Infinity‘s best tracks, “Therapeutic.” Self-improvement is the work to be done here, with Wave tossing off lines like “Fuck going off the deep end / I’d rather let the guard down and confront all my demons.” The inner power of family is on his mind, too, especially on the inspiring origin story “Lil Tae”:
North Side where I’m from, family on my mama side
Core values stuck with me, learned to lead without my pride
Big cousin saw a gift in me, he saw that I could rhyme
Told me it’s a process to this shit it’ll come in time
Wave’s months-long release schedule was appropriate; so many of Infinity‘s tracks feel like long-beloved singles. Opener “Manifest” is a gauzy crooner featuring a catchy chorus from Hashiem Brown. “Breaking News” couches some of Wave’s best boasts (“My name holding so much weight it’s breaking news”) in a chilled-out haze. “Skywalker/Vader,” meanwhile, is a cinematic journey that looms like a Star Destroyer one minute and bobs and weaves like a podracer the next.
But back to that movement, back to that focus. “I stay away from the news, it only leaves you upset / Feel like the whole world on the internet,” Wave laments on “Something Real.” He’s talking about the empty allure of social media clout (“Everything IG, no more OGs”) and its divisive and ultimately destructive end-point (“They boost that shit with ads then watch lives subtract / They want us all divided, man, somebody do to math”). But Infinity offers a clear and simple—if sometimes difficult—solution: There’s work to be done, both inside and out. Do the work. Do your best. Then start over and do it again.
