Approximately half the city packed the Milwaukee Central Library earlier this month for a free concert from local hip-hop stars 414BigFrank, AyooLii, and more. The so-called Library Show was such a hit that the folks at Milwaukee Public Library are turning it into a semi-regular thing.
Tonight, September 22, at MPL’s Martin Luther King Branch, 2901 N. King Drive, tireless Milwaukee rapper Wave Chapelle will kick off the new Songs From The Stacks concert series. The free all-ages show will take place in the branch’s Community Room, and is set for 6-7 p.m.

And yes, “tireless” is an apt description for Chapelle. Did he play approximately 8,000 shows this past summer, both alone and with NilexNile? Yes. Did Chapelle and Nile play the Milwaukee Record Stage at the Bay View Bash just this past Saturday? Yup. Has Chapelle released, like, seven new singles just this year? Again, yup!
Songs From The Stacks will continue at the Central Library Tuesday, October 27, with a free show from Milwaukee’s premier theremin-incorporating “Feline Expressionism” jazz project The Hissy Kits. Is that project also playing at the Milwaukee Record-sponsored Alley Cats “Meowloween” event this Sunday at Falcon Bowl? Yup!
