Has it only been a year since Volcano Choir’s explosive Repave was unleashed onto the world? While certainly of its time, there’s something ageless about the album, as if Justin Vernon (Bon Iver) and his Collections Of Colonies Of Bees collaborators (including drummer Jon Mueller) tapped into something ancient and elemental. Best summed up by the bombastic, jaw-dropping “Byegone,” Repave was one of 2013’s best albums, a collection that finally put to rest the notion that the band was simply a Vernon side-project or distraction.

But yeah, the album has only been out for a year, though in that time Volcano Choir has traveled the world over in support of it. That tour will come to an end Sunday, November 30 at Turner Hall, where the band will play its final Repave show. It’s only fitting that things will come to a close in Milwaukee (no matter how dark and beer-drunk it is). General admission tickets are $26.50, and go on sale Friday, September 26 at noon.
