As summer continues racing to a close, many of Milwaukee’s weekly music happenings are on the verge of hosting their last installments of the year. As it turns out, one of the city’s biggest, best, and longest-running summer music series has come to an unexpected end a week before its scheduled finale.
Yes, Chill On The Hill has announced just its 19th season is now over, as an excessive heat warning and the likelihood of thunderstorms at showtime has forced organizers to make the difficult (yet absolutely understandable) decision to cancel tonight’s finale featuring Bright Eye & Blind and Louie & The Flashbombs. Bay View Neighborhood Association announced the series’ abrupt weather-prompted conclusion via email today.
The Bay View Neighborhood Association has made the difficult decision to cancel Chill on the Hill for Tuesday, August 27th, due to the Excessive Heat Warning and threat of thunderstorms at showtime.
“We’ve worked closely with our weather service to determine that there will be no relief from the heat as we set up for the show during the afternoon hours. With stage temperatures well over 105 degrees, it is not possible to safely get the work done, and it’s not safe for our performers, volunteers or guests,” said Patty Thompson, Executive Producer of Chill on the Hill. “We are thankful for the 12 great shows we’ve had this season and look forward to an amazing 20th Anniversary starting June 3, 2025!”
Chill on the Hill is produced by the Bay View Neighborhood Association in partnership with Milwaukee County Parks. It is an all-volunteer production that is supported by sponsorships, donations, and memberships.
Thanks for another great season, Chill On The Hill. We’ll be with you on the grass next year!
