Even though 2016 can be chalked up as a rough year all around, one of the few quality distractions from the unprecedented political happenings, the ever-widening racial and economic gaps, and the steady stream of celebrity deaths was Stranger Things. The Netflix series—by way of its synth-y score and nostalgia-laden sci-fi premise—quickly captured viewers’ hearts, revived Winona Ryder’s cooling career, and made characters like Eleven, Dustin, and Barb (RIP) into household favorites.
Another beloved member of the Stranger Things universe(s) is Steve Harrington. As it turns out, Joe Keery (the actor who plays the big-haired heartthrob) is in a band called Post Animal. The Chicago-based psych-rock sextet is playing a show tonight at Cactus Club. Post Animal will open the Monday night bill, that also features North Carolina-based The Nude Party and Milwaukee’s own Soul Low. The show begins at 9 p.m. As always, the show is 21+.
If stranger things have happened than a tertiary character from a popular Netflix series playing guitar at a Milwaukee bar on an icy Monday night, we haven’t seen it.
