When we last heard from Nick Maas—no relation to the author of this article!—in the summer of 2019, the accomplished Milwaukee singer-songwriter was releasing a 45 under the Cabin Essence project name that featured a potent pair of sun-kissed songs. Now, close to five years later, Maas is bringing some long-awaited warmth to the frigid Wisconsin winter in the form of a brand new single that’s been in the works since early 2020.

Maas officially released “House For Two” digitally last Friday. Today, he’s following it up by putting out an accompanying music video for the song. Directed, filmed, and edited by Austyn Meyer, the newly-posted video finds Maas strumming a guitar in front of some miniature playhouses at Concord General Store in Oconomowoc before heading to Lake Park’s “Gun Club” Rugby Field, where he proceeds to play every instrument left out on a picturesque lakeside bluff.

Fittingly, Maas sang and played almost every instrument on the self-recorded single…with the lone exception being some drum accompaniment from prolific local percussionist Nick Lang. From there, the song was mixed by Ian Olvera and mastered by Justin Perkins at Mystery Room Mastering. Between the soothing visuals that give a glimpse of better days and the summer-suited song’s light and shimmering sound, we think it’s worth taking a few minutes out of your day to check out the “House For Two” music video now.
