Ahead of Castle Thunder’s Friday night show at Linneman’s, the oft-overlooked outfit—one of the brightest spots of this year’s great Locust Street Festival—has decided to toss a musical morsel into the moat to tide over its more impatient subjects. “Singing Birds” is an infectious number from the upcoming Throwing Stones that leans on the rhythm section up front, only to tack on space-y beams of synth and the sturdy backing of a pounding piano by song’s end.

Ring in the release of the “Singing Birds” single Friday, August 15 at Linneman’s Riverwest Inn. Castle Thunder will be joined by Animals In Human Attire and Pearls Of Mercury. The show begins at 9 p.m. and costs $6 at the door. If you can’t make the show to hear it live, the single will be available at Castle Thunder’s Bandcamp page Friday as a pay-what-you-want digital download.
