Every Wednesday at noon, WMSE’s Ryan Schleicher, Shepherd Express’ Evan Rytlewski, and Milwaukee Record’s Matt Wild take to the WMSE airwaves to discuss all things Milwaukee. This half-hour fun-fest is called The Disclaimer, so named because none of the oft-ridiculous views expressed on the show necessarily reflect the views of the hosts’ employers. Milwaukee music, Milwaukee art, Milwaukee events, and D.I.Y. lawn care tips are frequently discussed—and rarely agreed upon. The Disclaimer: talk radio for the sane.

For the second year in a row, Girls Rock Milwaukee brings together a group of girls aged 8-16 for a week-long day camp, and tasks them with learning instruments, forming bands, and writing one original song and performing it live at a public show. Ryan, Evan, and the spirit of an absent Matt talk to Girls Rock Milwaukee organizers Valerie Lucks and Ashley Smith about the innovative and empowering rock-star boot camp, which culminates this year at a concert Sunday, August 10, at Turner Hall. The challenges for organizers and participants alike are discussed, along with the inevitable tears, meltdowns, and onstage drama. Just like real bands!
