Y’all know Bon Iver. Know how the acclaimed Eau Claire indie-folk group led by Justin Vernon earns a livin’. They’ll play a show for you next summer, but it ain’t gonna be easy. Good band! Not like going down to a local dive bar and watching The Bluegills and The Tommycods. This group, only doing one Wisconsin show all summer. Little falsetto and electronic fiddlin’, little surprise encore featuring a deep cut from 2007’s masterful For Emma, Forever Ago, and down you go.
And they’re gonna do it at Summerfest 2019, headlining the new American Family Insurance Amphitheater on Saturday, June 29, with special guests Lord Huron and Julien Baker. That’ll bring back your tourists, put all your businesses on a payin’ basis. But it’s not gonna be cheap. Bon Iver values their time a lot more than free admission with the donation of four non-perishable food items on Kohl’s Family Day. They’ll get to the grounds at 3, but they’ll start to play, and kill it, around 10.
But you’ve gotta make up your minds. Tickets go on sale Friday, December 14 at 11 a.m. at Summerfest.com and Ticketmaster.com, and include admission to Summerfest. Bon Iver don’t want no volunteers, they don’t want no more openers, there’s too many cover bands at Summerfest. Get your Big Gig tickets next week. For that you get the music, the picnic table dancing, the whole damn thing.
