Good morning! Are you ready for some Bon Iver news? Hopefully you have some coffee brewing! Like the old saying goes, “Don’t talk to me about Bon Iver before my second cup!”

Anyway, Bon Iver have announced the impending release of their fourth album, i,i, due August 30 on Jagjaguwar. Frontman Justin Vernon has described i,i as the group’s “most adult record,” and as a completion of cycle (For Emma, Forever Ago = winter; Bon Iver, Bon Iver = spring; 22, A Million = summer; i,i = fall). Dude has a thing for commas, apparently.

“It feels very much like the most adult record, the most complete,” says Vernon in a press release. “It feels like when you get through all this life, when the sun starts to set, and what happens is you start gaining perspective. And then you can put that perspective into more honest, generous work.”

The Eau Claire-based Bon Iver have also shared two new songs from the album, “Jelmore” and “Faith.” They join the previously released “Hey, Ma” and “U (Man Like).” Listen to the new stuff below, check out the i,i tracklist, preorder the thing, make love to a fall tour schedule (they aren’t playing Wisconsin because they just played Summerfest), and revel in the early-morning majesty of Bon Iver.

(Oh, about that title. Vernon says: “The title of the record can mean whatever it means to you or me. It can mean deciphering and bolstering one’s identity. It can be how important the self is and how unimportant the self is, how we’re all connected.”)
