There’s no bar in Milwaukee—or the world, for that matter—quite like The Mothership. Since opening in April 2019, the Bay View bar has served up more Hamm’s and Campari than any other establishment in the state, offered up accessible riffs on elevated cocktails, partnered with food trucks on its property, weathered a worldwide pandemic, changed the way businesses interact with their customers (and Yelp critics) online, and just completed an extensive renovation project. It’s only been six years, but it’s hard to imagine Milwaukee without a place like The Mothership. Frankly, we don’t want to think about Milwaukee without The Mothership.
From 3 p.m. to close on Sunday, April 27, the bar will celebrate its sixth anniversary in grand fashion. Similar to previous anniversary parties, The Mothership will be enlisting some special guest bartenders from establishments they love and respect to be part of the fun. This year’s lineup features mixologists from Chicago’s Queen Mary Tavern, Too Soon from Portland (Oregon), and Phoenix-based Killer Whale Sex Club.
Beyond that impressive cast of cocktail professionals, The Mothership will have food available from Dooby Dogs and Sweet Smoke BBQ, an outside bar with two draft beer options and plenty of ready-to-drink canned cocktails, and giveaways of branded items from beverage companies (including the highly coveted Hpnotiq booty shorts, we’re told). Save the date, travel safely, and consider taking off work on Monday.
