Roughly three years after opening in the old Fuel Cafe spot at 818 E. Center St., coffee shop The Daily Bird has closed. The business made the announcement on Sunday.
“Dear Daily Bird community. We have made the difficult decision to close our doors starting tomorrow, 11/04/2024,” reads a social media post. “While we hope to reopen as soon [as] possible, we’re unsure of when that will be. Your support has always meant the world to us, and we can’t thank you enough for being such an integral part of our journey.
“We’ll keep you updated here with any news,” the post continues. “In the meantime, take care, and we can’t wait to serve you again soon!”
Reached via social media, The Daily Bird declined further comment.

Operated by Dan Zwart, The Daily Bird began its life in April 2021 as a pop-up coffee shop just a few doors down, at Cafe Centro. It took up permanent residence at 818 E. Center St. in December 2021. The bright yellow business came complete with messages like “YOU ARE LOVED” and “DO NICE THINGS” on the walls. It was impossible not to feel a jolt of positivity as you walked through the door.
Here’s the video for BLAX’s “Intelligent Beings,” which was shot at The Daily Bird in 2023.
