We’ll cut to the chase and reveal the information we’ve all been waiting for:
To celebrate the Milwaukee Brewers‘ recent 12-game winning streak, George Webb will hand out free hamburgers on Wednesday, August 20, from 2-6 p.m. at all 23 George Webb locations throughout Wisconsin.
Can’t make it? According to a press release, “vouchers will be available starting this Friday (8/15) for pick up at restaurant locations for those who want to savor the moment and enjoy a delicious George Webb hamburger at a later date. A limited menu will also be available on the giveaway day with great deals on extra burgers, fries and drinks.”
You know the story: Since the 1940s, venerable Wisconsin restaurant chain George Webb has had a longstanding promise to hand out free burgers if the Milwaukee baseball team—first the Braves, then the Brewers—wins 12 games in a row. The prediction/promotion has come to pass only twice: in 1987, when the Brewers opened their season with a 13-game winning streak and George Webb gave away nearly 200,000 free burgers; and in 2018, when the Brewers won 12 in a row and George Webb gave away 90,000 free burgers plus 100,000 redeemable vouchers, and we buried our burger in the woods and unearthed it one year later. Never forget.
And now, with the Brewers reaching the 12-in-a-row milestone Wednesday afternoon, Webbs is doing it again. What will we do to celebrate this celebration? Stay tuned! In the meantime, here are some thrilling shots from 2018. Go Brewers!
