Last July, we got together with then-Milwaukee comedian Carter Deems to talk about his growth as a comic, his underground popularity in the battle rap community, and—most importantly—being selected to be a cast member on Season 14 of Wild ‘n Out.
Since that interview came out, Deems opened for Judah Friedlander at the Milwaukee Comedy Festival, he received some battle rap-related praise from a hip-hop legend, he relocated to Atlanta, and his season of Wild ‘n Out started hitting the airwaves. Season 14 has been airing every Tuesday on VH1 since January 7, so we figured now would be a good time for a mid-season check-in to get you up to date on Deems’ accomplishments.
This season, Deems has seen his fair share of screen time during episodes that featured the likes of 2 Chainz, Ginuwine, Mario, athletes Tarik Cohen and Ted Gin Jr., and actress/model Kenya Moore.

Upcoming episodes will reportedly feature Lil Nas X, Big Freedia, DaBaby, ScHoolboy Q, Martellus Bennett, and many more appearing alongside Deems and his fellow cast mates. Deems says the show just wrapped filming on its 15th Season, during which he “got to perform with some of [his] favorite artists, battle rap against Cassidy and Big Daddy Kane, and do an improvised song with DaBaby.”
Another recent accomplishment Deems experienced was earning some kind words from Method Man, who called him one of his “favorite battle rappers.”
Though Deems no longer lives in Milwaukee, we’re still excited to keep tabs on him and what he’s doing as his career continues its ascent. We suggest you do the same by watching new episodes of Wild ‘n Out on VH1 every Tuesday night at 7 p.m. In the meantime, check out this footage of Deems’ audition.
