Every Wednesday at noon, Ryan Schleicher, Evan Rytlewski, and Matt Wild take to the WMSE airwaves to discuss all things Milwaukee. This half-hour fun-fest is called The Disclaimer, so named because none of the oft-ridiculous views expressed on the show necessarily reflect the views of the hosts’ employers. Milwaukee music, Milwaukee art, Milwaukee events, and D.I.Y. lawn care tips are frequently discussed—and rarely agreed upon. The Disclaimer: Talk radio for the sane.
The recent mothballing of The Spot 4MKE—a short-lived “placemaking” project that tried to inject some life into a big, ugly, and mostly empty downtown parking lot—has Ryan, Evan, and Matt thinking about authenticity, accountability, and, oddly enough, Old Fashioneds. The Spot tried to be something it was not (namely a fun place to hang out), but a new Travel Wisconsin campaign focusing on supper clubs highlights one of the more unique aspects of the state with simplicity and ease. Milwaukee’s stacked but low-key presence at Austin’s annual South By Southwest festival is also discussed.
