Even though the remaining days of summer are dwindling, there’s still a lot of fun to be had. The Wisconsin State Fair is still going strong and a bunch of happenings on our extensive summer festival guide still haven’t occurred. Adding to that is a steady wave of new announcements of events that will be taking place in late August and into September.

To that point, here are four such August and September events that were announced recently. If things like a chamber music festival, a charitable bike race, a distillery festival/spirit release, and a Walker’s Point Block Party for all ages might be of interest to you, check out the descriptions below and save the date!

August 27, 28 and 30
Summer Chamber Music Festival @ Villa Terrace Museum & Gardens
“Villa Terrace Museum & Gardens is hosting a three-day Chamber Music Festival August 27, 28 and 30. The festival is led by Yaniv Dinur, an accomplished pianist and the former resident conductor of the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra. The third rendition of the Milwaukee Chamber Music Festival presents the complete cycle of Beethoven’s Razumovsky String Quartets – three pieces that changed the genre of the string quartet in their symphonic scope and emotional depth. Divided into three concerts, these iconic pieces will be performed by members of the Milwaukee Symphony and paired with Russian, Czech, Estonian, German and French music.”

September 12
The 7th Annual Shorewood 12 Bike Race @ Shorewood
“Join the Gentlemen of Shorewood on Saturday, September 12th from 9:12am to 9:12pm for the Shorewood 12 bike race! Simply put, teams of 4 take turns riding laps around Shorewood for 12 hours. But it’s not all about the laps. New this year – stop in local Shorewood businesses and participate in a variety of challenges to earn BONUS points for your team before the race day! All proceeds from the race and race entrance fees are donated back to various and multiple charitable organizations.”

September 18
Harvest Fest Block Party & Pumpkin Spirit Release @ Great Lakes Distillery
“The annual event brings together Milwaukee music, food, makers and craft spirits for one spirited night celebrating the arrival of fall. Guests can enjoy live music from The First Wave, with acoustic duo Alex & Jenn opening the evening, along with specialty cocktails, GLD spirit samples, Lakefront Brewery beers, food vendors, and a Mini Makers Market featuring local artists and makers. The highlight of the evening will be the return of Great Lakes Distillery’s Pumpkin Seasonal Spirit, an annual limited release created in collaboration with Milwaukee’s Lakefront Brewery.”

September 27
Bean Plant Block Party @ Anodyne Coffee Roasters Walker’s Point Roastery
“On September 27, Anodyne Coffee Roasting Co. will host its fifth annual Bean Plant Block Party at its Walker’s Point roastery. The free event brings together skaters, local musicians, artists, vendors and the wider community, with proceeds supporting National DIY, the volunteer-run nonprofit behind Milwaukee’s growing DIY skate scene.”
