Milwaukee Record is working in partnership with Urban Cat Coalition to help find loving homes for area cats. Each week, we—with generous sponsorship from Skilos, A Family Pet Store—plan to highlight a feline friend that’s currently up for adoption by naming it “Milwaukee Record’s Cat Of The Week.” This week: a special needs sweetie named Taxicab.
Meet Taxicab. Are you a complete cat newbie seeking your first feline companion? Well, Taxicab has figured out how to thrive in the foster home of an absolutely bewildered dog-person, so imagine how well he’ll do with you!
Do you have a soft spot for the ones with a few too many challenges? Come meet your three legged, half-tailed, FELV+ best friend! Taxicab was found with a broken leg, necrotic tail tip, and upper respiratory infection. After some amputations and meds, he is healing up and ready for love.
Because Taxicab is FELV+, he has a less robust immune system than the average cat. Care should be taken to minimize his chance of opportunistic infection, and having a standing URI antibiotics prescription with his vet might be a good idea. It also means he will need to be adopted as an only cat or into a home with other FeLV+ cats.
This guy definitely has some challenges, but personality-wise he’s about as easy as they come— sweet, chill, and lovely.
