Every Friday, Off The Record looks to other Milwaukee publications (and beyond) for bits of news we missed throughout the week.

• Milwaukee isn’t getting that Amazon headquarters. [Urban Milwaukee]

But here’s some stuff it is getting…

• The owners of Pizza Man are bringing a new brewpub to the Milwaukee Brewing Co.’s space in the former downtown Pabst complex. The new joint is being described as an “updated version of Milwaukee Ale House.” It will open this summer. [Milwaukee Journal Sentinel]

• Ever-busy Nomad owner Mike Eitel is bringing a sports bar and restaurant called SportClub to the former Blackthorn Pub space, 750 N. Jefferson St. It will open this March. [OnMilwaukee]

• Fiesta Cafe is opening in the former Wayward Kitchen, 1407 S. 1st St. [OnMilwaukee]

• MOD Pizza is opening two more locations in the Milwaukee area—one in Oak Creek at Drexel Town Square, and another in Greenfield at the 84South center. [Milwaukee Business Journal]

• Some big shows Milwaukee is getting: Jack White at The Rave (April 20); The Breeders at The Rave (May 9); and a bunch of stuff at Summerfest. Summer is ready when you are! [Summerfest]

In other news…

• Kareem Abdul-Jabbar toured the new Bucks arena and he likes it. [Milwaukee Journal Sentinel]

• Milwaukee company Hyde Sportswear will be on Sunday’s episode of Shark Tank. The company will pitch its “wingman” product, “a ripcord-inflating life jacket designed so the user can easily swim and move while wearing it.” [Milwaukee Business Journal]

• Bounce Milwaukee has created a mock chicken leg pizza, which sounds awesome. [OnMilwaukee]

• Field Report released a new song, “Never Look Back,” and it’s great. The band’s new album, Summertime Songs, is due March 23 on Verve Forecast. [Stereogum]

• Just remembered this: Lex Allen also has a song called “Never Look Back,” and it, too, is awesome. Allen is playing our Local Coverage show tonight. [Bandcamp]

• Klassik released a new track, “Sanity’s Symphony,” and it’s eight-and-a-half-minutes and great. [Bandcamp]

• La Cage is transforming into the three-pronged LVL. The ground floor will become LVL Bistro, the middle/main floor will become LVL Complex, and the third floor will become LVL Cabaret. Got all that? [OnMilwaukee]

• The InterContinental Milwaukee hotel is transforming into a “creatively bold independent arts hotel.” Huh. [OnMilwaukee]

• Have a great weekend, Milwaukee!
