Now that the lengthy streak of dreary, cold, and soul-sucking days has finally ended and weather conditions in Milwaukee seem to be promising for a while, we can officially start getting ready for summer festival season. Though things don’t really kick off until June, there’s actually a block party coming up in Walker’s Point next week.

On Friday, May 20, Great Lakes Distillery will host an Uncooped Block Party in its parking lot from 6-10 p.m. The free event will double as a bottle release for its new Chicken Shack Straight Rye Whiskey, which is being made in honor of The Chickenshack on WMSE.

Adding to the tasty cocktails and limited release rye whiskey (which will support WMSE) is a selection of beer available from Central Waters and performances by from a pair of Milwaukee mainstays. Chrissy Dzioba-Clobes of The WhiskeyBelles will start things off around 6 o’clock before Chicken Wire Empire brings the party to a close after that.

If you’ve missed festival season, you want to send a few bucks WMSE’s way by purchasing rare rye whiskey, you want to see come great musicians or some combination of those things, you should get the flock over to Great Lakes Distillery’s Uncooped Block Party on May 20.
