We’re only four days into 2021 and Bay View already has a new store in its midst. The neighborhood newcomer is Clover Milwaukee, a plant shop that moved to a retail space at 2252 S. Kinnickinnic Ave. The new shop is located directly next to The Brass Rooster.

The venture started last October, when owners/founders Maggie Murphy and Sissy Butner started selling sustainably-focused plants and pottery on Instagram. A Clover website was launched in December, and the pair got the keys to their dedicated retail space on January 1. The store will be offering curbside pick up starting today, and the owners have a goal of being open to the public for in-person shopping sometime in February.

Murphy tells Milwaukee Record the store will specialize in selling herbs, plants, and locally made pottery. She says Clover will also have a potting station in the back of the store so customers can pick their own plant and match it with a pot of their choosing. The business also strives to have a Milwaukee focus, with a range of area-made items in their inventory, locally roasted coffee eventually available for on-site enjoyment, and work of area artists hanging on the store’s walls. Clover uses as much repurposed and up-cycled material as possible in its planters.

“Our goal is to have the lowest carbon footprint possible and to stay as locally sourced as possible,” Murphy says.

As we wait for the full-fledged opening in the next month or two, you can follow Clover Milwaukee on Facebook and Instagram, and you can place orders here.
