The stars aligned Wednesday night for a truly weird and wonderful experience that only Milwaukee—and, yeah, we’ll say it, Milwaukee Record—could have delivered.

First up, as part of our ongoing Weird Al Week, we screened the 1989 “Weird Al” Yankovic classic UHF at the Avalon Atmospheric Theater. It was great! A pretty packed house!

Approximately 90 minutes later (“We did it! The station’s ours!), we headed to nearby Sugar Maple for a UHF afterparty. But it wasn’t just any UHF afterparty. This UHF afterparty came complete with locally created Weird Al art, Al-inspired drinks from Sugar Maple, Al-inspired snacks from Not Bad Foods (including Twinkie Weiner Sandwiches!), and a Weird Al costume contest. Oh, and Sugar Maple had the Brewers-Dodgers game on a projection screen, because no UHF afterparty would be complete without watching the Brewers crush the Dodgers in Game 3 of the NLCS and be one win away from their first World Series appearance in 44 years!

Yep, it was a night to remember. Thanks to everyone who enjoyed UHF, thanks to everyone who dropped by the afterparty, and thanks to the four Al diehards for dressing up! Thanks to the Avalon, thanks to Sugar Maple, and thanks to all the incredible artists for all their incredible Al creations! Here are the rest of the photos!
