You know the story: Venerable Wisconsin restaurant chain George Webb has a longstanding promise to hand out free burgers if the Milwaukee Brewers win 12 games in a row. The prediction/promotion has come to pass only once, in 1987, when the Brewers opened their season with a 13-game winning streak, and George Webb gave out nearly 200,000 free burgers. And Friday night, with the Brewers’ 6-5 win over the Los Angeles Dodgers in Game 1 of the National League Championship Series, Webbs is getting ready to do it again.

Mark your calendars, Milwaukee, for Thursday, October 18, from 2-6 p.m. Here’s the deal, via George Webb:

They did it!!! (We always knew they would!) In honor of George Webb’s famous prediction, we will be giving away FREE BURGERS* on Thursday, 10/18 from 2PM to 6PM. Plus, we’ll have special pricing on other menu items including fries, soft drinks, and more. *Limit 1 per person.

Webbs also notes that “if lines are long, vouchers will be available at each store to come back and redeem at a later date.” “If” lines are long? Ha.
