Domes Open Monday for Corpse Flower Bloom

WHEN: Monday, July 12, 9am-5pm

WHERE: Mitchell Park Domes, 524 S Layton Blvd, Milwaukee, WI 53215

WHAT: The Mitchell Park Domes will open today, Monday July 12, to allow visitors an extra chance to view, and smell, a Corpse Flower, which began blooming on Sunday.

The Corpse Flower, Amorphophallus titanum, is native to Indonesia and when in bloom it emits a powerful odor, often described as rotting flesh, to attract pollinators such as flies. The flower only blooms for 2-3 days every 7-10 years, so Monday offers a rare opportunity to experience this unique plant.
