Department of Public Works Updates for Summer Service Season
Please find updates for DPW Sanitation’s summer service season for all 1-4 unit residences in the City of Milwaukee.

Garbage and Recycling Collection: New garbage and recycling collection schedules begin Monday, April 4, with seasonal recycling cart set-out running through December 2, 2022. Residents can look up their collection schedule online at and request schedules be mailed to them by calling 286-CITY (2489) or online at

Reminder: Residents with curb collection must bring carts to the curb on their designated collection dates. Cart openings should face away from the home with at least 3 feet of space around the cart to allow easy access for collection.

Drop-Off Centers: During the summer season (April 10, 2022 – November 26, 2022), Drop Off Centers are open Tuesday through Sunday, 7:00 A.M. to 3:00 P.M. Visit for more information.

Brush Collection: Brush collection can be requested April – November. Brush and branches include woody stalks from pruning and branches up to 6 inches in diameter. Place up to 2 cubic yards (size of a couch) between the curb and sidewalk or alley for collection. No branch should be longer than 4 feet or larger than 6 inches in diameter. Request a pickup online or call 414-286 CITY (2489).

Please note that in Wisconsin, yard waste is banned from landfill. Consider mulching leaves to create healthy lawns in the spring. Drop Off Centers are available for any remaining yard waste material that cannot be managed on-site. Up to 6 cubic yards of yard waste per load may be dropped off free of charge.

Project Clean and Green: Project Clean and Green will take place April 18-May 27. Collection crews will target one zone each week for six (6) weeks. Residents can find information about Project Clean and Green and look up their collection date (in April) at
