The Laughing Tap has been a Milwaukee comedy mainstay since it opened at 706B S. 5th Street in January 2020. In its five-year existence, the Walker’s Point comedy club—which is owned and operated by Milwaukee Comedy producers Matt Kemple, Kaitlin McCarthy, and Greg Bach—has hosted hundreds of standup acts, including appearances by noted humorists like Bobcat Goldthwait, Dana Gould, Michael Ian Black, Laurie Kilmartin, Sean Patton, and many more.
In less than two months, the business that calls itself “Milwaukee’s Home for Comedy” will be changing its address. Wednesday night, The Laughing Tap officially announced its plans to relocate. A social media post states the club will be departing from its current Walker’s Point site and moving to a yet-unspecified location that will give the business “more seating, even bigger-named comedians, and more laughs than ever before.”
According to the announcement, the final weekend of shows at the current Laughing Tap digs will be June 13-14, and the June 18 “Laughs On Tap” open mic will be its final day of operation in the building. Owners are planning to open in the new location by “early fall.” Stay tuned for more details on The Laughing Tap’s new location as that information becomes available. In the meantime, help send The Laughing Tap version 1.0 off in style, support their relocation efforts, and catch a show at 5th Street location while you can.
