Washington Park Wednesdays has canceled its 2020 season. The annual concert serieswhich features a perennially impressive range of local acts performing under the gorgeous Washington Park bandshell every Wednesdays between mid-June and the end of August—is one of the last remaining Milwaukee summer undertakings to make the tough (but wise) decision to cancel on account of COVID-19 concerns. The announcement was made on Washington Park Wednesdays’ Facebook page on Monday. While there won’t be mid-week music in the bandshell this summer, organizers promise “this will not be a silent summer.” Here’s the full announcement:

Since March 9th, the Board of Directors and the Planning Committee for Washington Park Neighbors have carefully considered the evolving best practices for the Washington Park Wednesdays Summer Concert Series. Thus, it is with great reverence for our beloved audience, artists, neighbors, volunteers, vendors and sponsors that the Board has decided to cancel the eight performances previously scheduled at the Washington Park Bandshell for 2020. However, this will not be a silent Summer. Stay tuned.

WPN is a group of individuals and families serving the Washington Park area and the Near West Side of Milwaukee, WI. The goal of WPN’s Washington Park Wednesdays Summer Concert Series is to both broaden the scope of attendees to the park and to the West Side of Milwaukee, as well as to enable access to the rich cultural fabric of Milwaukee as a whole for the residents surrounding the park.
