Last year, we introduced you to Slamhaus—the creative clearinghouse of Milwaukee musician Nick Amhaus—by way of the project’s wonderful and wide-ranging collection of quickly composed songs on I’m Trying. The unconventional album, made up of standout tracks from his weekly “Tunesday” songwriting sessions he posts on his Twitch page, featured some of our favorite songs of 2021.

With 2022 almost fully in the books, Amhaus enlisted the vocal and lyrical assistance of Abbi Minessale to help end the year with another commendable composition. Today, Slamhaus quietly released “Acid Rain” on streaming platforms. The song features a lo-fi bedroom pop sound listeners have come to recognize from Slamhaus, as delicate electronic drums and sparing keys complement forlorn lyrics and heartfelt melodies about residing in memories of days gone by.

As we prepare for a new year full of unknown possibilities ahead, take a moment to look back on the year that was, appreciate the good experiences you had, and listen to “Acid Rain” by Slamhaus and Abbi Minessale below.
