Way back in February, the Milwaukee Common Council unanimously approved the creation of Hip-Hop Week MKE. “Hip-hop has the unique ability to bring communities together and stimulate conversations about relevant issues in our society,” said Ald. Khalif Rainey, who proposed the event. “I am thrilled to bring this event to our community with the help of my colleagues. In August, Milwaukee will experience the true power and influence of hip-hop.”

And now here we are in August, and Hip-Hop Week MKE is about to kick off. The schedule is pretty incredible, with concerts, films, discussions, and much more setting up shop in Milwaukee venues from now until August 26. Want local talent? You’ve got it. 8-10 p.m. – Masters of Ceremonies free hip-hop concert featuring Milwaukee hip-hop artists at Miller High Life Theater, 500 W. Kilbourn Ave.
