Our fat-free, dolphin-safe Milwaukee events calendar is chock-full of things to do, but only a handful of events are worthy of the lofty honor of “Record Recommended” (patent pending). Here are our recommendations for September 30-October 6, 2019.

TUESDAY, OCTOBER 1

Milwaukee Record LiveSCREAM Theater: Night Of The Living Dead (w/Tigernite)
For five nights in October, we’re bringing you Milwaukee Record LiveSCREAM Theater! And tonight’s the first installment! Want to join us and special guests Tigernite for a live-on-the-internet viewing party of the original Night Of The Living Dead? NOW YOU CAN. Just tune in to the Milwaukee Record YouTube channel at 8 p.m. and comment/joke along with us! It’s all part of the 2019 Milwaukee Film Festival, which runs October 17-31.

The Story Changes (members of Hawthorne Heights, The Stereo) + Mario Lanza @ Cactus Club

WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 2

Humbird + Caley Conway, Liv Mueller @ Anodyne Walker’s Point Roastery
“Everyone knows the character of Eve from the bible, and everyone has their own ideas about her. But if she was wandering around America in 2019, what the hell would she say?” So wonders Siri Undlin of Minneapolis-based indie-folk band Humbird. Find out the answer to Siri’s question—and enjoy the peerless talents of locals Caley Conway and Liv Mueller—at tonight’s show.

Best Sleep + Cashfire Sunset, CRLSS @ High Dive

FRIDAY, OCTOBER 4

The Black Keys + Modest Mouse @ Fiserv Forum
Is it okay to like The Black Keys again? (Don’t answer that.) Is it okay to still like Modest Mouse? (Don’t answer that either.) Anyway, the last time we saw The Black Keys was at the Bradley Center back in 2012. They were good! Now that that arena is a memory and the new Fiserv Forum is a gleaming arena of the future, it’s as good a time as any to revisit the group and enjoy some cuts from the new Let’s Rock.

Bay View Missed Connections In Real Life @ Lee’s Luxury Lounge

Stereolab + Bitchin Bajas @ Turner Hall

The Sunkin Suns + Sleepy Gaucho, Cullah, Tlalók @ Riverwest Public House

Pete Freeman + Erica Putman, Dan Sipin @ The Gig

Cinema Hooligante: Audition @ Oriental Theatre

SATURDAY, OCTOBER 5

Juiceboxxx + Telethon, Twan Mack, Rexxx, DJ DRiPSweat @ Cactus Club
There’s “tireless,” and then there’s Juiceboxxx. The Milwaukee-by-way-of-the-world rapper has been writing, recording, and performing since he’s been a teenager. He’s following his fucked-up dreams, and so should you. Juiceboxxx’s latest releases include the singles “Running So Deep” and “Coinstar Song.”

Wavy V + So Zuppy @ Company Brewing

Acme Records 7th Anniversary Party @ Acme Records & Music Emporium

The Hullmen + Bellhead, Holly And the Nice Lions @ Kochanski’s Concertina Beer Hall

Milwaukee Record Halftime Show: Genesis Renji @ Cactus Club
The Milwaukee Record Halftime Show concert series at Cactus Club is back! Once again, we’ve assembled a stacked roster of 16 projects to provide FREE (21+) halftime entertainment. And, once again, our friends at Miller High Life are sponsoring our football-focused festivities, meaning fans can enjoy “The Champagne of Beers” for $2.50 a bottle, or $10 for a bucket of five beers all game long. And, yes, there will be touchdown shots.

Hot Coffin + Wet Tropics, Bear Call, Bandoleer Bacall, Flu Like Symptoms @ X-Ray Arcade

Jim Gaffigan + Pears Book @ Pabst Theater
