Our fat-free, dolphin-safe Milwaukee events calendar is chock-full of things to do, but only a handful of events are worthy of the lofty honor of “Record Recommended” (patent pending). Here are our recommendations for February 24-March 1.

TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 25

Man Or Astro-Man? + Wray, Devils Teeth @ The Back Room @ Colectivo
Is it…Man or Astro-Man? Find out this Tuesday when the long-running sci-fi/surf-rock outfit beams down to the cozy confines of Colectivo’s Back Room. Milwaukee’s own Devils Teeth opens the show.

WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 26

Dashboard Confessional + The Get Up Kids @ The Rave/Eagles Ballroom
After a sort of lengthy lapse of shows here, Dashboard Confessional has become a Milwaukee fixture again and we aren’t complaining about it. Chris Carrabba and company will come to The Rave for the second time in 15 months (and to Milwaukee for the third time in that span) as part of Dashboard Confessional’s 20 Year Celebration tour that will find them performing songs from their entire catalog. Oh yeah, The Get Up Kids are opening! Don’t miss the best show of 2001 that the 2020 version of you is sure to enjoy as well.

Christopher Porterfield + Todd Umhoefer, Nathaniel Heuer @ Transfer Pizzeria Cafe
Transfer Pizzeria Cafe’s new rear addition and occasional performance space—which they’re calling “The Haven Room”—will host one doozy of a mid-week lineup. Field Report bandleader Christopher Porterfield will head up a stacked bill that also features Old Earth mastermind Todd Umhoefer and the first-ever solo performance of Nathaniel Heuer from Hello Death. Tickets to the 7:30 p.m. show (6:30 p.m. doors) also include a pre-show appetizer buffet.

FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 28

Heart Bones + Immortal Girlfriend, Gully Boys @ The Cooperage
Start with one part Sean Tillmann (a.k.a. Har Mar Superstar). Add A Giant Dog singer Sabrina Ellis. Put them together and you have Heart Bones. The dynamic duo will kick off the tour for their debut record, Hot Dish, with what’s sure to be an unforgettable show at The Cooperage.

Direct Hit! + Limbeck, Juiceboxxx, Rational Anthem @ X-Ray Arcade
Limbeck is back, baby! Sweetening this prospect of the already-enticing reunion tour stop is the opportunity to see Direct Hit! play on its home stage along with Juiceboxxx and Rational Anthem. Go out, have fun, and don’t worry if you’re tired and hungover the next day because it’s Leap Day and we all know that day doesn’t actually count.

Refused + Youth Code, Racetraitor @ The Rave/Eagles Ballroom
When you have the chance to see Refused, you take it. The seminal Swedish punk band will play its first Milwaukee show in, pshhhh, maybe 100 years when they come to The Rave. New Noise isn’t new in the slightest anymore, but the record’s message is more accurate and important than ever.

Gender Confetti + Pink Tide, Negative/Positive @ Cactus Club

LUST: Seducer + THE DEMIX, Tarek Sabbar @ Walker’s Point Music Hall
