November. Summer is now far in the rear view mirror. Most of Milwaukee’s festivals are now over. By now, your Halloween costume has been washed and stored away for later use. On paper, November doesn’t offer much beyond Thanksgiving. It’s the continuation of one season and the precursor to another. Still, between lauded comedians coming to town, great local and national concerts, and can’t-miss Milwaukee Record happenings, there’s plenty to keep Milwaukee occupied as we await the impending wintry doom. Here are 15 of our top picks.

Napoleon Dynamite Live! 20th Anniversary Celebration @ Pabst Theater
Has it really been more than 20 years since the release of Napoleon Dynamite? GOSH, it really has. Does the film still retain its awkward, ridiculous, and endlessly quotable power? Do Alaskan wolverines keep trying to attack our nation’s cousins? (In other words: yes.) The original stars of the endearing cult classic—Jon Heder (Napoleon), Efren Ramirez (Pedro), and Jon Gries (Uncle Rico)—are coming to Pabst Theater. SWEET. The event will feature a full screening of Napoleon Dynamite followed by a “lively, freewheeling, moderated discussion” with the cast. Also, the event is being billed as BYOT (Bring Your Own Tots).
Tuesday, November 10

The Landmark Credit Union Live show will be almost exactly two years from the last time White played Milwaukee…at The Rave, The Vanguard, and Cactus Club. Love you, Jack! And thanks again for kicking in some serious cash for Cactus’ new ramp!

Friendsgiving with Chicken Wire Empire, Valley Fox, and more @ The Cooperage
While Chicken Wire Empire plays festivals all over the Midwest and is known to embark on the occasional European tour, the Milwaukee-based bluegrass stalwarts tend to only play sparingly in their hometown. The scarcity of those local outings only serves to make them more special and less skip-able, so you definitely don’t want to miss Chicken Wire Empire’s annual “Friendsgiving” show at The Cooperage the night before Thanksgiving. This relatively rare local performance will also feature Valley Fox and other area bluegrass-adjacent talent TBA.
Friday, November 27 through Sunday, November 29
