Milwaukee is chock full of things to do, but only a handful of Milwaukee events are worthy of the lofty honor of “Record Recommended” (patent pending). Here are our recommendations—brought to you by Lilliput Records—for August 18-24, 2025.

MONDAY, AUGUST 18

Musical Mondays: Laura Rain And The Caesars @ Lake Park Summer Stage
No Milwaukee outdoor summer concert series is quite as cozy—or quite as eclectic—as Musical Mondays. The free summertime series takes place on the Lake Park Summer Stage, near the playground, throughout July and August. And this year’s season—Musical Monday’s 27th!—is another winner. As for this week: “A proud product of the Motor City, hard-driving singer Laura Rain and her hot band pump out soul, R&B and funk originals worthy of the many greats hailing from Detroit, with fearless emotion and excitement.”

Oh, and WMSE’s Local/Live will broadcast live from the event!

Milwaukee Record Presents: Weird: The Al Yankovic Story @ Avalon Atmospheric Theater
Everyone knows the absolutely true story of music legend “Weird Al” Yankovic. But have you seen this 100% true origin story dramatized in a 100% true biopic? And have you seen that 100% true biopic on the big screen? Well, the answer to the second question is likely NO, because Weird: The Al Yankovic Story was released directly to The Roku Channel in 2022. But we’re screening it tonight at the Avalon Atmospheric Theater! Yep, this is the one where Daniel Radcliffe plays Yankovic, where Evan Rachel Wood plays Madonna, and where a host of oddball celebrities play a host of other oddball celebrities in an infamous pool party scene. Get your tickets now!

Me Like Bees + Parrotfish, Bowvee @ X-Ray Arcade
“Formed on the heels of the 2000s indie rock scene, Missouri-based indie rock band, Me Like Bees, was created by college dropout Pete Burton and former gas station clerk Luke Sheafer in 2009. The pair met while playing high school football together in Kansas; only to lose touch and serendipitously end up at the same college town in southwest Missouri several years later. The duo shared a mutual affinity for the music of the aughts. Bands like The Strokes, Modest Mouse, The White Stripes, and Franz Ferdinand would serve as the catalyst to the danceable, guitar- driven rock that Me Like Bees would become known for.”

Simple Plan + 3OH!3, Bowling For Soup, Lolo @ BMO Pavilion
“For more than two decades, Simple Plan has been one of the most culturally and commercially successful bands in rock. Their multi-platinum 2002 debut album, No Pads, No Helmets… Just Balls bore the smash singles ‘I’d Do Anything,’ ‘I’m Just A Kid,’ ‘Addicted’ and ‘Perfect,’ while subsequent hits ‘Welcome To My Life,’ ‘Summer Paradise,’ ‘Untitled (How Could This Happen To Me?),’ ‘Shut Up!’ and ‘What’s New Scooby-Doo?’ have cemented their legacy as pop-punk legends.”

On Saturday, August 23, the bar will celebrate its sixth anniversary with a winning blend of live music, rare beers, specialty cocktails, food, and fun. Station No. 06’s Sixth Anniversary will run from noon to 10 p.m. During that 10-hour span, there will be a lot happening, so—with the help of the bar’s Operator and Partner Miles Patzer—we’ve taken the liberty of breaking it into sections for you.
