Every few years, a local release comes out of nowhere and gives the city’s music scene a much-needed kick in the teeth. Canopies, Young Holidays (R.I.P.) and Bliss & Alice all fit that bill, as does Sin Bad, a new and ridiculously great garage/pop-punk band featuring ex-members of Modern Machines. The band’s sole release—a nicely produced demo—is currently streaming on Bandcamp, and should absolutely not be missed by fans of melodic punk with more than a few touches of ’90s Midwestern emo. It’s really, really good.
Sin Bad opens for Milwaukee’s Heavy Hand, Detroit’s Amino Acids, and Chicago’s Burn Permits this Saturday at the Cactus Club.
