Sylvan Esso may hail from Durham, North Carolina, but the hot-as-shit two-piece electro act has some serious Milwaukee connections. Nick Sanborn, of course, is a former Milwaukeean and former member of the gone-but-not-forgotten Decibully. What’s more, Sanborn met his future Sylvan Esso collaborator, Amelia Meath, while both musicians were sharing a bill at the Cactus Club in 2010. Fast forward six years and the group has notched a metric ton of praise, an appearance on The Tonight Show, countless festival gigs, and a handful of Milwaukee shows. Not bad for a project that originated on a random night in Milwaukee.
Now, two years after Sylvan Esso’s eponymous debut, the group has released a new song, “Radio.” The undeniably poppy but unmistakably defiant song (sample lyric: “Don’t you look good / sucking American dick”) is one half of a 12″ single due November 18 on Loma Vista Recordings. Listen to it below.
