What a difference a year can make. Last August, we wrote about a music video and single from Gold Steps. Since then, the Milwaukee (by way of Austin) pop-punk quartet released an EP on Revival Recordings, avidly toured the U.S., landed a lucrative Summerfest slot supporting Flyleaf, surpassed one million streams on Spotify, and added a fifth member to the mix.

Now, exactly 52 weeks removed from that article, Gold Steps is back with a new song that finds the band venturing into decidedly more pop-focused territory. Today, “Undercover” was released. The new single is a vibe-y and smooth late-summer earworm. The sleek and shimmering song received an equally polished visual treatment, as the band ducks beneath some crisp white sheets to perform the radio-ready number (quite literally) under covers.

The song’s release date coincides with the band’s performance at The Back Room @ Colectivo. In the weeks to come, Gold Steps will perform throughout the Midwest, including shows in Chicago, Iowa, Madison, and on our stage at next month’s Bay View Bash. As you get ready for a steady diet of live outings and new material from Gold Steps, watch the video for “Undercover” now.
