It’s been faaaaar too long since we checked in with dreamy post-punk duo Genau. We wrote about the Milwaukee group’s self-titled debut way back in 2016 (“If you’re feeling a little bit noisy and a little bit goth, this one’s for you,”) but haven’t checked in since. Our bad!
So what have Erik Gosnell and Chris Belkofer been up to in the past nine years? Releasing music, of course, including two recent singles, “Live By The Water” and “Margaret In Dub.” And oh buddy, those singles are goooood. And gloomy! Let’s take a listen!
“This is our first release of work recorded post-COVID,” Belkofer tells us. “With ‘Live By The Water’ we were exploring our pop sensibilities and love for UK ’80s new wave a little more directly.” Mission accomplished, gents. Both songs are perfect for this time of year. Hell, both songs are perfect for any time of year.
