If you’re aware of Milwaukee’s punk scene, there’s a good chance you recognize some of the members of Poison Hand you see in the above image from their work in many of the city’s finest punk, pop-punk, post-punk, and hardcore punk projects. As impressive a wide-reaching as its list of associated acts might be, Poison Hand’s members want to let their music speak louder than any other past/current affiliations its member have.
Though the band formed in 2021, the only way listeners could hear Poison Hand to this point was through its recorded set on WMSE’s Local/Live or during sporadic live outings, including last year’s Bay View Bash. That will all change on Friday when Poison Hand will officially release its long-awaited debut album into the world. That record, entitled Suspect The Vice, features seven blistering tracks that masterfully meld elements of street punk with an unexpected level of lyrical depth and a melodic delivery.
Before Suspect The Vice is released on vinyl via Boulevard Trash Records and available to stream on all platforms later this week, listen to lead single “Pressure” here. Poison Hand will also headline a release show at Sabbatic on Friday, September 12 that will also feature opening support from Minneapolis-based Virgin Whores and Milwaukee punk vets Avenues. The show begins at 9 p.m. and is free to attend (though donations for the musicians are welcome).
