Iron your best pair of culottes and reschedule your Talking Club session because Milwaukee Record is screening Barb And Star Go To Vista Del Mar this fall! This ultra rare big screen showing of the 2021 comedy—we think it might be the first time it’s ever been played in a Milwaukee theater—is coming to Avalon Atmospheric Theater on Wednesday, November 29. Tickets to the 8 p.m. showing are on sale NOW.

Both written by and starring Kristen Wiig and Annie Mumolo (who also wrote Bridesmaids together), Barb And Star Go To Vista Del Mar follows two quirky Midwestern friends, co-workers, and roommates who embark on the vacation of a lifetime and wind up saving Vista Del Mar, and maybe the world, in the process. The film was supposed to hit theaters in 2020, but the pandemic pushed it to a video on demand release in early 2021. Despite not having a theatrical presence, the offbeat comedy—with a few hilarious musical numbers incorporated throughout—still managed to resonate with audiences watching at home, get rave reviews, and quickly earn “cult classic” status.

In addition to iconic performances by Wiig and Mumolo, Barb And Star also features Jamie Dornan, Damon Wayans Jr., Wendi McLendon-Covey, Vanessa Bayer, Fortune Feimster, Phyllis Smith, and a cameo from a certain worldwide music sensation. Speaking of great supporting casts, this extra special screening is sponsored by our friends at Gruber Law Offices and Lakefront Brewery. Once again, tickets to this 8 p.m. screening cost $11 are on sale NOW. Don’t miss your first (and possibly only?) opportunity to see Barb And Star Go To Vista Del Mar in theaters. Oh my gooooooossssssh!
