There are few Milwaukee summertime activities that can beat spending a few hours paddling around the city’s rivers in a kayak. Trust us! If the experience that blends outdoor enjoyment, exercise, and seeing the city in an entirely new way is missing anything, though, it’s live music. Until now!

Every Wednesday from June 9 through September 22, MKE River Round Up and Brew City Kayak will offer three hours of live music on the open water. Each week, a different musical act will take to a pontoon boat known as “The Funktoon” to perform from 5-8 p.m. Instead of staying stationary and watching the show like landlubbers, people can rent a kayak from Brew City and paddle alongside the performers as The Funktoon navigates the river.

Each MKE River Round Up will begin at Boone & Crockett. From there, stops at Milwaukee Ale House and The Harp Irish Pub are built into each trip. Every Brew City Kayak rental also comes with a tall boy from Indeed Brewing Company.

The (mostly booked) lineup includes a pair of performances by FunkClub Wagon, as well as appearances by De La Buena, Chicken Wire Empire, Cullah, and more. Tickets are $50, which includes kayak rental, the show, and a beer from Indeed. Only a few MKE River Round Up shows are on sale right now, so check Eventbrite as show dates approach or email [email protected] for more information. Here’s the lineup:
