Just over two weeks from now, Direct Hit! will release Wasted Mind, its new full-length and debut record on Fat Wreck Chords, into the world. As one could maybe glean from the title, the album centers on the overarching concept of a drug trip gone awry and its lasting impact once the chemicals wear off. Without saying much more, holy shit is it good!

As the arrival of Wasted Mind—and with it Direct Hit!’s release show at The Metal Grill on June 25—draws closer, the band has been releasing videos at a pretty regular clip. Keeping with the drugged-out themes of its visual predecessors, the new video for “Was It The Acid?” (which Alternative Press premiered today) has a hallucinogenic bent, with a faintly local appeal. After emerging from the Oriental Theatre, singer-guitarist Nick Woods happens upon a gigantic East Side Turkey that runs amok down Farwell Avenue before removing its head to reveal a shocking twist. In addition to the historic movie house, Nick’s House (RIP!) makes what’s likely to be its last film cameo in the video that Woods says was shot over the course of three hours.
