For many years, the beer and spirits industries were completely dominated by men. Male distributors sold products made by male brewers and distillers to bars, restaurants, and liquor stores that were typically owned by—you guessed it!—men. Thankfully, that’s shifting. Though there’s still a great deal of room for change and inclusion in theses industries as a whole, more women than ever before are getting involved in production or beer and spirits, as well as sales and purchasing.

Throughout the month of March, Women’s Beer And Spirits Collective—a group of women brewers, distillers, reps, and other beverage industry professionals—is partnering with a wide variety of bars and restaurants from all over the region to put on more than 20 events that will celebrate Women’s Month and raise funds for a variety of female-focused organizations in the process. The group is also putting on a number of events at Madison, Green Bay, and Appleton establishments in March.

Some standout Milwaukee-area happenings from the multi-site Women’s Month celebration include a tiki/luau-themed pop-up at Station No. 6 on March 4, a “Loud As Helles” beer release at New Barons on March 6, and a March 18 “Pitch A Friend” event at Uncle Buck’s. All the events are rooted in a sense of collaboration, inclusion, and support for deserving organizations that advance women’s rights.

In addition to the events, many businesses will also offer recurring week- or month-long promotions that will raise funds for a variety of causes. Check out the schedule of events and the list of nearby businesses participating in Women’s Month fundraisers below.
