It’s that time of year again: the time of year when the prestigious food-celebratin’ James Beard Foundation announces the semifinalists for its annual James Beard Awards. As always, a number of Milwaukee-area restaurants, bars, and chefs are in the mix. Here they are:
• Bay View bar The Mothership is up for Outstanding Bar
• Walker’s Point hot spot 1033 Omakase is up for Best New Restaurant
• Vanessa Rose of Mother’s is up for Emerging Chef
• Lisa Kirkpatrick and Paul Zerkel of Goodkind are up for Best Chef: Midwest
• Oh, and Zak Baker of Wauwatosa restaurant Ca’Lucchenzo is also up for Best Chef: Midwest
Congrats, everyone! Finalists will be announced March 31. Winners will be announced June 15 at the James Beard Restaurant and Chef Awards Ceremony in Chicago.
