In January 2025, Mitch Ciohon decided to hit pause on his popular and long-running Taco Moto food truck for a few months in order to shift his culinary focus to one of his greatest loves: snacks. The Milwaukee chef and former Snack Boys co-owner decided to bring back some beloved standbys from the menu of that shuttered restaurant and unveil some new snack creations under the “South Water Snacks” name.

Ciohon’s unconventional concept operated out of Boone & Crockett, where it thrived in late winter and early spring until closing in April 20 with a promise to return “next snack season.” South Water Snacks did just that, coming back for a second go-round of indulgent comfort food that spanned December 2025 through mid-May of this year. Well, with fall truly making its presence known and a long winter on the horizon, it appears a third “snack season” is in the forecast at Boone & Crockett.

Yesterday, Ciohon posted on South Water Snacks social media accounts to say “snack season 3.0 starts Dec. 17” and “mark it, dude.” It’s a little early to tell what’s going to be on the menu, but we imagine Snack Boys-turned-South Water Snacks mainstays like Mitchy Wings, the BBQ Blue Balls, and the legendary Fried Bologna Sandwich will all be in the rotation, with exciting new indulgences sure to hit the menu as well.

Sure, colder and darker days are ahead, but the snacks are coming back to Boone & Crockett beginning December 17. Maybe winter isn’t so bad after all. Follow South Water Snacks to stay up to date on the pop-up concept’s menu and its planned hours of operation.
