Finally! After almost a year of being (mostly) closed, Bay View bar-restaurant staple Palomino (2491 S. Superior St.) has announced it will be reopening its kitchen and patio starting Thursday, May 18. The long-awaited news was revealed on the restaurant’s Instagram account Tuesday afternoon.

Back in July 2022, Palomino announced a temporary closure “due to the severe staffing shortages in our industry brought about by the pandemic.” That announcement said that Palomino would be open for special events only, and that normal food and bar service would hopefully return “next year.”

Last September, the business reopened its bar for weekend drink service on weekends and for a small handful of special events like beer dinners and seasonal pie pickups. The restaurant has not been open in any traditional way since last summer. However, folks can finally enjoy some comfort food “fan favorites” beginning this week. As noted in the Instagram post, Palomino’s kitchen will be open Thursdays through Mondays from 5 p.m through 9 p.m. and the bar will be serving “cold beers and hot whiskeys” until 11 p.m.

Welcome back, Palomino! We forgot how much we’ve missed you.
