From time to time, Milwaukee area beer sales representatives and other brewing industry professionals like to join forces to raise money and awareness for great causes. In March, Women’s Beer And Spirits Collective—a group of women brewers, distillers, reps, and other beverage industry professionals—collaborate with local businesses to celebrate Women’s Month and raise funds for a variety of female-focused organizations. In November, the Milwaukee brewing and beverage sales community turns its focus men’s heath causes.

Throughout next month, a variety of beer sales representatives for a wide range of internationally regarded and locally lauded brands alike will be partnering with more than 20 bars and restaurants from all over the region to put on close to 30 events that aim to bring in money for and promote awareness of mental health issues, prostate cancer, and testicular cancer under the Movember fundraising umbrella.

“It’s important to spread awareness about the mental health issues and cancer rates facing men of all walks of life. Too many men suffer in silence and avoid the treatment they need for fear of seeming weak or burdensome,” a press release says. “The world loses a man to suicide every 60 seconds, and over 1.6 Million men are diagnosed with prostate or testicular cancer per year. Using the resources we have as people in the beer industry, along with our friends in the bar and restaurant scene, we can reach people where they are and bring a bit of fun while we educate and raise funds for a great cause.”

Metro Milwaukee’s Movember fun will start with a November 1 kickoff event at Burnhearts and will conclude with a cribbage tournament at Moran’s Pub in South Milwaukee on November 30. Along the way, there will be giveaways, music bingo, and meat raffles. There will also be happy hours and month-long specials galore, where patrons can support the Movember cause while enjoying specials from such participating breweries as Central Waters, Founder’s, Half Acre, Young Blood, Sierra Nevada, Lion’s Tail, New Glarus, Third Space, Hinterland, Ope!, Guinness, Surly, and 3 Sheeps.
