There’s never a perfect time to launch a new product, but for Lakefront Brewery‘s new THC-infused beverage High Jinx, its launch comes at an especially fraught time.

Despite a looming federal ban on THC and other hemp-derived products—passed by Congress and signed by President Trump on Wednesday—the beloved Milwaukee brewery unveiled its new THC lemonade on Thursday. The non-alcoholic, vegan and gluten-free High Jinx is “infused with 10mg Delta-9 THC per can,” and is promised to “elevate the situation wherever it’s at.”

“We’ve taken our brewing expertise and applied it to THC beverages,” Lakefront Brewery President and Founder Russ Klisch says in a press release, “creating a drink that’s precise, great tasting, and refreshingly light. It’s all about giving consumers a safe, consistent, and enjoyable experience.”

But what about that federal ban, which was a last-minute addition to a government funding bill and is set to go into effect in one year? Klisch tells Milwaukee Record: “We are moving ahead assuming that eventually THC will be legalized in Wisconsin in the next year. If anything, it may prevent some of the larger players in the industry from getting into THC for now, which will help us.”

The press release says the brewery has spent the past two years perfecting the beverage, “to ensure a fully transparent product with the proper flavor and experience in every 12oz can.” The press release also includes drinking tips, like this:

Cannabis affects everyone a little differently, and High Jinx takes about 15–30 minutes to kick in. If you’re new to this type of thing, Lakefront advises taking it easy, sipping slowly, and seeing how you’re feeling in about a half hour. Drinking a High Jinx has a quicker onset than Delta-9 edibles, but not as immediate as smoking cannabis. The buzz from a single can of High Jinx typically lasts 1–2 hours and may impair your ability to drive and operate machinery.

Each batch of High Jinx is independently lab tested for Delta-9 THC potency, and the lab results are posted on Lakefront’s website via QR code. A consistent, predictable dosage of 10mg of Delta-9 THC combined with only five other ingredients means you can rely on a consistent, simple, 15-calorie beverage in every can.
