Sure, it might still be September, but we’ve now officially entered fall and the alluring spirit of the Halloween season is in the chilly autumn air. There’s a long (and ever-growing) list of ways you can get wrapped up in “spooky season” festivities, but for our money, sitting down to watch some scary, bloody, ominous, and altogether messed up movies is right at the top of that list.
If you share that sentiment, you’ll probably be happy to learn Neighborhood Theater Group—which operates Avalon Theater, Rosebud Cinema, and Times Cinema—is bringing its annual Halloween-specific “Shocktoberfest” film series back for another October. The frights and fun will begin with an screening of a Wisconsin-shot horror flick called Creature Fear at The Avalon on Thursday, October 1 and will come to violent end with two showings of Halloween on Saturday, October 31. Along the way, horror buffs can trick-or-treat themselves to a scary good variety of classics, cult favorites, and even some new-ish titles for good measure.
All screenings begin at 9 p.m. and cost $9 (excluding Creature Fear, which begins at 7 p.m. and is a full price engagement). Check out the full Shocktoberfest lineup below.
