Though the news has been out for a while that the owners of Board Game Barrister and 42 Lounge are teaming up to open a new geek-tastic place called Oak & Shield Gaming Pub in the space currently occupied by Karma, a few more details have surfaced today. In a Facebook Live video, 42 Lounge owner Lynn Richter revealed that the current 42 Lounge, 326 E. Mason St., will in fact be moving, and that the business will live on in the lower level of Oak & Shield, 600 E. Ogden Ave.
The current 42 Lounge will celebrate its final day on Saturday, March 17 (St. Patrick’s Day!) with an event appropriately titled “So Long, And Thanks For All The Fish.” Oak & Shield, meanwhile, will feature a patio, food, a removable stage, and, of course, plenty of board games and video games and card games and trivia nights and karaoke and DJs and live music and everything else that’s great. Similar to Board Game Barrister (owned by Gordon Lugauer), some games will be available for sale.
Oak & Shield will be open seven days a week, and until 2:30 a.m. on weekends. It’s expected to open this spring.
