Bastille Days kicks off Thursday, July 17 in Cathedral Square Park, and runs through Sunday, July 20. Want to utilize Milwaukee’s BELOVED downtown streetcar system, The Hop, while you attend the four-day fest? Well, you can totally do that! And later than usual, too!
(Also, on the off chance you made it this far into this lengthy article, you can argue about The Hop. So do that now!)
According to The Hop, streetcar service will be extended until 1 a.m. on Friday and Saturday nights, “while an additional car will remain in service longer on Saturday to provide more frequent service into the evening.” Also: “Service will be briefly interrupted Thursday evening to accommodate the Storm the Bastille run, with operations pausing from 8 p.m. until the conclusion of the race. Operations will resume at approximately 10:30 p.m. (or as soon as the route is clear) and continue until midnight to accommodate crowds leaving the festival.”
Here’s the complete schedule:
Thursday, July 17
• Regular weekday service until midnight
• Pause in service to accommodate Storm the Bastille run from 8 p.m. until approximately 10:30 p.m.
Friday, July 18
• Regular weekday schedule with service extended until 1 a.m.
Saturday, July 19
• Expanded service with an additional car in use until 10 p.m.
• Regular Saturday service extended until 1 a.m.
Sunday, July 20
• Regular Sunday service
And since it’s been a while since we simply posted The Hop’s monthly ridership numbers and let people argue about them, 41,374 rides were logged in May 2025. Okay! Argue!
